Volunteers are the lifeblood of Trinity Center – we welcome volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, religious affiliations, gender identities and sexual orientations. Volunteers assist Trinity Center in fufilling our mission of serving the needs of people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Austin by working in a variety of different areas. Volunteers, as part of the Trinity Center team, are vital in reaching our goal of ending homelessness.
Contact Trinity Center to discuss your interests, availability and our current volunteer opportunities. If you are ready to start, please fill out this form, and we will schedule you for an on-site tour and orientation!
What do Volunteers do at Trinity Center?
Short answer: EVERYTHING! With only four staff members, the daily operations of Trinity Center are done mostly by volunteers. We truly couldn’t do what we do without you! Some volunteers work in the Center answering phones and questions, some work in the kitchen preparing breakfast and making coffee, some provide administrative assistance and mail service, some assist with the women’s clothes “shopping” and shower programs, some monitor the use of computers. Whatever your area of expertise, there’s a place for you at Trinity Center.
During the week, Trinity Center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and most volunteers work during this time frame. Kitchen volunteers can come at 8:30 a.m. to help with breakfast preparation (no cooking, however!) and help serve. Early shifts are generally from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Computer monitors and desk volunteers are usually on a 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. shift. Within our 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. “open hours,” we can find a time for you!
Does Trinity Center have internships available?
Yes! Generally, Trinity Center has between one and three case management interns per academic semester. Contact Emily Prince, Trinity Center’s Case Management Coordinator, for more information. firstname.lastname@example.org
