Hot summers, cool needs!

School is an institution and a season — which is strange, when you think about it. Whether we’re in school, have kids in school or have nothing whatsoever to do with school, life seems to slow down at the end of May. It’s not like we’ve all gone on vacation, but enough people flee the city when school is out that the pace and traffic ease up a bit.

Todd FitzGerald’s history with Trinity Center goes way back – beginning, for all practical purposes, with the Center’s birth. After graduating from seminary in Chicago, the Louisiana native came to St. David’s Episcopal Church as curate and served from 1998 to 2000.

The Snow Angel

On a cold night in early March of 1999, I was in Chicago attending a professional conference.  Snow had begun to fall in the afternoon, and I decided it would be nice to walk up Michigan Avenue to a favorite restaurant for dinner.  By the end of dinner, a picturesque snowfall had become a blinding blizzard.  As I headed back to my hotel, the streets were empty.  There were no taxis available, there were no vehicles of any kind moving about, and there were almost no people out in the weather.
